LIFT UP A PRAYER
In the shadows of the morning,
before the light has come,
when winds and waves are storming,
and the heart feels cold and numb,
let a prayer lift up your spirit,
like a whisper in the night.
Listen till you hear it -
the Counsel of His Light.
When troubles seem to gather,
like a load too great to bear,
and a dark and threatening weather,
seems to hover everywhere,
though a cross lies on the shoulders,
and thorns surround the brow,
a prayer can make us bolder -
His Light can show us how.
