Here's a good example of what I mean by 'whimsy'.

MIXED METAPHOR

Because the waters flow like the wind,
and the wind is wet with the seas;
because the Earth has a wobbling spin,
and the Kinght-in-Armor has shaking knees,
and the Bus-driver rides on a runaway horse,
this is the era of mixed metaphors.

If I could sing, I would dance for you now.
You'd know what a clever dunce I am,
like the Professor, who doesn't know how
to do all the things that he can.
Wanderers from home, won't return anymore.
They're lost in the Age of Mixed Metaphor.

( Chorus )
Please help me find the path of this song.
It flows like a painting Picasso denied.
I might be right, even though I sound wrong.
So I said nothing - but tried.

Just turn your ear to the scent of the sea,
and taste the Vision adrift in the air.
Listen to sounds that the eye has seen,
and the yet-to-be that is everywhere.
If you're inside-out, and you're wearing the core;
that's the style of mixed metaphor !

Through hours and days of absent Time;
in the Space that has no place to be,
wanders the Poet, in a sea of rhyme,
in a Prison that travels with the Free.
He is a King, who is homeless and poor,
the Servant-Ruler of Mixed Metaphor.

( Chorus )
Please help me find the path of this song.
It flows like a painting Picasso denied.
I might be right, even though I sound wrong.
So I said nothing - but tried.
