COUNTRY RAIN

I can remember soft country rain,
after a hot summer day;
the tinkle of ice in a sweet lemonade,
and sipping our worries away.

Family and friends would sit in the evening,
on the porch making music we loved.
good country songs of life and believing,
while the soft rain fell like good country love.

Chorus
Like the soul's own music, and the spirit's own song,
like the solace of Faith, and the promise of Love,
let it heal and renew all that's gone wrong,
like that soft country rain that fell from above.

Even today, when there's less of that music,
I still hear it clear, running down through the years.
There was none of the rush and noisy confusions.
There was less of the trouble, though we shed our tears.

How many are left, who still can remember ?
Oh Lord let them come, and sing that way still,
keeping the memory, and the melodies tender,
so some can still hear it, and I pray that they will.

Chorus
Like the soul's own music, and the spirit's own song,
like the solace of Faith, and the promise of Love,
let it heal and renew all that's gone wrong,
like that soft country rain that fell from above.
