PASSING IT ON

A young singer walked up to the old Troubadour,
a look of respect in his eyes.
It was plain what the young one was asking for,
just a few words from the wise.
"I'm just startin' out. I'm new on the Way.
I've loved your music so long.
Please, what advice would you give me today ?"
The old singer smiled, and offered this song.

________
I'm not gonna say it's all lovely. I'm not gonna to say it's all fine.
Sometimes the mirror looks ugly, and the sun just don't want to shine.
I'm not gonna say it's all glory. There's mud on the Road in the rain.
Heartaches are part of the story, and we all have our share of the pain.

Chorus
Always take time on your journey, to enjoy simple things day by day.
Take note of the lessons you're learning, and pass them along the Way.
Remember it's Life that we're living. There's always a price and reward.
The falls and the slips are forgiven, when you walk the Road with the Lord.

I'll only say - keep on goin'. Keep Faith in your heart every day.
Sometimes there's a fair wind blowin'. In the night a star shows the Way.
Treasure the dream in your soul. Love it, and it will grow strong.
Try to cheer some as you go, with a comforting thought in your song

Chorus
Always take time on your journey, to enjoy simple things day by day.
Take note of the lessons you're learning, and pass them along the Way.
Remember it's Life that we're living. There's always a price and reward.
The falls and the slips are forgiven, when you walk the Road with the Lord.
