PRICE OF SILENCE
In a silence full of questions, the moment flowed away.
I could not stop the passing.I could not hold the day.
Yet, I have relived it, through all the passing years -
a silence full of questions the aching heart still hears.
Within that one lost moment, the words I couldn't say,
hung heavy in the silence, and I let them slip away.
I can see your face so clearly, your eyes like listening birds.
Sometimes silence can do more to shape our lives than words.
There's a place for silence; a time when it is wise.
Sometimes it's just a vacuum in which a promise dies.
A silence full of questions, still haunts the passing years.
It gathers in the heart, like a well of unshed tears.
I could not hold the moment. Nor could I speak the line,
when just one simple comment, might have made you mine.
Sometimes silence left behind us, will wistfully return,
a load of heavy wisdom. Things we too late learn.
Words we left unspoken, or words we never heard.
Sometimes silence can bring heartache, more than any words.
There's a place for silence. A time when it is wise.
Sometimes it's just a vacuum, in which a promise dies.
