As events bring about meetings and separations sometimes not self-determined, we turn to our Spiritual Faith to find a sense of connection even when apart. We may use some external, visible symbol which helps us feel a greater inclusion which binds us. This lyric is about such symbols, and how they can sometimes console.

RISING SUN AND EVENING STAR

Every Saturday morning, when the cartoons start to run,
I go out on the porch, to watch the rising sun.
I think about you, and remember that you -
are watching it too.

The kids are cartoon watching. Paper is ready to read.
Coffee cup is in my hand, and I'm feeling the same old need -
to see you across the table, and hear your voice in the room,
nothing else seems able to lift me out of the gloom.

Chorus
Rising Sun, and Evening Star, our signposts in the sky.
They shine on, wherever we are. One for the day. One for the night.
Watching them, I don't feel so blue. They're my click-on link to you.
You don't seem so far. I know you are watching too -
Rising Sun and Evening Star.

When air is fresh with morning; grass is wet with dew,
birds are starting their songing, and I'm here thinking of you.
Not so blue, remembering you,
are watching it too.

Sometimes in the evening, watching the Evening star,
like we always used to do.
It has a way of relieving. You don't seem so far.
I know you are watching it too.
Rising Sun and Evening Star link our love, wherever we are !
