HISTORY OF MUSIC

Why did they draw on the walls of caves ?
Baby - now don't you know ?
They had reporters back in those days,
writing news of long, long ago.

Who was the first one to beat on a log,
and grin at the sound it made ?
When they did it loud, and they did it strong,
it would make an intruder afraid !

(Chorus)
It must have impressed, when they pounded their chest,
and yodeled aloud at the moon.
Did they have a contest, to vote who was best ?
And who was the first one to croon ?
And so today, we will have our say,
and sing, whether free or in chains.
From the cave-man on, from noise to song,
music has been our wings !

Who was the first to twang on a twig,
and grunt along with the sound ?
Around the cave-fire, I'll bet he was big,
and others would beat on the ground !

It's an old, old thing, whether crude or great.
It's in-born since time began !
The efforts we make to communicate,
are much older than modern-day man !

Music has been our wings !
