ACROSS THE FIELDS OF TIME
(A song for Reunions)

Across the fields of Time,
through byways of the mind,
the children that we were are coming home.
Sunset's drifting down. The twinkling lights of town,
tell us we belong, we're not alone.

All through the summer meadows,
and through the evening shadows,
something led us safely through the years,
There were storms along the way, followed by a sunny day,
and the kisses of our loved ones dried our tears.

Chorus
In reunion we can gather,
sharing times that we remember.
Treasures of the heart, forever near.
It's sweet to share the gold of heart and mind,
as we look across the mellow fields of Time,
to the faces and the scenes we hold so dear.

Soon we all will travel on, with our memories, one by one.
Often we will take them out to share.
The children of tomorrow, will have our past to borrow,
to remember they abide yet in our care.

Yes - some will fail to see what treasures they can be,
and think that they have left them far behind.
Till farther down the Road, they pause to rest their load,
and look across the mellowed fields of Time.

Chorus
In reunion they will gather,
sharing times that they remember,
the faces and the scenes they hold so dear.
They will share the gold of heart and mind,
as they look across the mellow fields of Time.
to the treasures of the heart, forever near.
